Haiti's Transitional Council has elected a new president and handed over his powers

In the light of the election of the Transitional Council in Haita, the Prime Minister of the country, Ariel Henry, who is in the United States, resigned. This "Transitional Council" is a new Provisional Government, which held a secret oath ceremony at the National Palace in Port-Prince, during which they elected a new president and handed him the leadership of the country.

This secret ceremony was organized with great risks because the country's rebellion continues for two months, and the leaders of these gangs also express the desire to enter the new government. The bandit groups have not yet expressed their position on the election of the Transitional Council. Meanwhile, the newly elected President, former Senate leader Edgard Leblan, acknowledged that he was "only a temporary executor of the Council's decisions."

The decision to hold this secret ceremony was supported by the US and the Caribbean countries, which transferred the powers to the Transitional Council.

Currently, a "transitional body" consists of seven members of the Provisional Government with the right of vote and two observers without the right of vote. Swan was elected only four votes (including his own). In addition, the Council appointed the former Minister of Youth and Sports Fritz Belizer by the Provisional Prime Minister of the country.

The Council was tasked with appointing the President, the Cabinet of Ministers and the new temporary election council, since according to Haiti Constitution, the country should elect a new President by February 2026. However, the transitional council transferred this right to the elected president.

Edgard Leblan announced that he will form the government of the country as a "temporary executor of the Council's plans" - at their submission and with the support of the relevant candidates.

Leblan also promised to combat drug and banditry and provide "free and fair elections that deserve trust."

The beginning of the "rebellion" of Gaitites on Haiti was due to their demands on the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry, who officially performed the President's duties after the murder of the Head of State. Henry agreed to the main condition of the "rebels", leaving his post, but announced the formation of the Provisional Government.

Despite this, the "uprising" did not stop, and Henry was unable to return to Haiti. A group of Caribbean countries announced the creation of a temporary presidential council, while the bandits have expressed a desire to participate in power and hold positions.

One of the leaders of the Rebellion is the former Jimmy police officer Sherizier. His bandit group, known as VIV Ansanm (which translates as "living together") was created from the merging of the nine largest gangs of the capital of Haiti, Port-Orens. To date, this Alliance controls about 80% of the capital.

Before the murder of President Haiti Ozhilell Moz, in July 2021, the country's police never paid attention to the persons associated with Jimmy Barbeku, which led to the rapid increase in the impact of his gang in the environment of key drug trafficking.
