The intercepted conversation of high-ranking German military personnel may raise tensions between Germany and NATO, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports.
According to the newspaper, this incident caused outrage in Germany.
According to the WSJ, it follows from the intercepted conversation that there are military personnel from Great Britain, France, and the United States in Ukraine, who are helping Kyiv maintain sophisticated Western equipment. However, these countries deny the presence of their troops on the territory of Ukraine. This, according to the WSJ, could complicate relations between Germany and NATO.
Experts interviewed by the WSJ believe that this incident made the delivery of the Taurus missile to Ukraine even less likely. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz previously explained the refusal to supply missiles to Ukraine by the fact that German specialists would be needed for programming and targeting. The recording of the conversation indicates that Ukraine can handle the weapons on its own.
The virtual conversation was held on the WebEx platform, one of the participants was in Singapore and connected to the conversation by phone. WSJ sources said that the platform is actively used for negotiations by the military and officials.
