In France, the election period is approaching that can significantly change the country's political map and influence the international arena. According to recent forecasts and analyzes, the right parties, in particular the national association under the leadership of Marin Le Pen, are going to win the parliamentary elections. This can have serious consequences for the ambitious European defense plans, which was actively invested by French President Emmanuel Macron.
In recent months, Macron seemed to proclaim himself a "flag bearer of the Ukrainian business", proposed to use France nuclear weapons to protect the entire continent and pushed EU countries to issue debt to buy weapons and work on joint defensive projects - all this is completely contrary to all.
"In defense issues, we will probably not support the macron - and here he will be obliged to respect the will of the people," - said one of the deputies of the "national association", adding that the views of the right and the macron on the defense "clearly do not agree."
According to Ulrika Franke, a senior researcher of the European Council on International Relations, everything that at this stage exists as an idea or initiative of France - whether it is support for Ukraine or the defense of Europe - "already dead". "Even if Macron continues to offer his ideas, we will all know that there is nothing behind them: there will be neither funding nor support from the government or parliament," the expert's Politico suggests.
