In Ukraine, teachers should not expect a significant increase in wages in the near future due to the difficult financial situation in the state budget. Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovy reported it at a briefing during a working trip to the Nikolaev area, according to Ukrinform.
Forest emphasized that the issue of raising wages for teachers is very painful. The Ministry has developed a concept of raising salaries, which provides for the achievement of three minimum wages for teachers. This, according to the minister, would help involve young people in pedagogical activity and motivate teachers in professional development. However, the budget situation is currently critical and allows only over 70% of defense.
The minister noted that as soon as the war is over and the situation with the budget will improve, it would be possible to implement plans to increase wages in the field of education. "We must last until the time. The Presidential position and the entire team of the Ministry is unanimous: education is the number one priority after defense. First we will protect the country, and then education will become our main priority," Lisovy said.
Earlier, in February, the Ministry of Finance announced a non -repayable financial assistance of $ 760 million from the governments of Japan and Norway. These funds were to be used to partially compensate for the state budget expenditures, in particular for pension payments, payments to employees of the SES and the remuneration of teachers.
Also in 2023, Prime Minister Denis Shmigal announced a plan for raising a salary for teachers in 2024, which provided for an increase of 10% from January 1 and another 12% from April 1. However, this increase has not been implemented yet.
