Tommy Cesha's song causes indignation in Italy before Eurovision

Italian officials and NGOs called on Estonia to cancel the selection of a representative for the Eurovision contest through the Espresso Macchiato song performed by Tommy Cash. The reason was that the texts of this song, according to critics, ridiculed stereotypes about Italy. In particular, it is a picture of mafia, which constantly drinks coffee, smokes and eats spaghetti. The song is made by a mixture of broken English and Italian, which also caused indignation at some listeners.

The Consumer Association Codacons has appealed to the European Language Union because it believes that such a song should not be part of the competition. However, many Italians, on the contrary, expressed their admiration for the song, and even stated that they were ready to vote for Estonia on Eurovision.

Tommy Cash won Eesti Laul, the National Selection of Estonia, and will present its country at Eurovision in Basel in May, if Italy does not achieve the abolition of his participation.
