South Korea and the United States conducted joint exercises of special operations units and combat aviation

South Korea and the United States organized extensive joint training of special operations forces, which were attended by more than 1400 servicemen and more than 40 helicopters and transport aircraft. The maneuvers lasted for five days in the province of Kiongi, not far from Seoul, and in the mountain area of ​​India in the east of the country.

According to the Ministry of Defense of South Korea, during the exercises, the Allies improved tactics and interaction in the transportation of special forces for units of CH-47 Chinooks and UH-60 Black Hawk, accompanied by shock AH-64e Apache. Also, landing and ensuring the safety when discharging goods by the C-130H transport aircraft.

These exercises are aimed at strengthening the interaction between the Allies and increasing their operational abilities in counteracting potential threats, in particular by North Korea.

Also, there were training with the launchers of rockets off the western coast of the Korean Peninsula. These maneuvers participated in about 40 combat aircraft, including the South Korean F-35A, F-15K and F-4E, as well as A-10 and F-16 Air Forces of the US Army located in South Korea.

During the exercises, the pilots carried out training in different conditions, including knocking on the enemy's imitation rockets at low altitudes with the help of air-air-air rockets, as well as the drawing of accurate strikes on the positions of the high range artillery with the help of the air-top rockets and controlled airplanes.

These maneuvers took place within the framework of the annual joint exercises of the Freedom Shield, initiated against the background of growth of indignation against rocket threats by North Korea. Since the beginning of the year, North Korea has already conducted five test rockets, which has increased tension in the region.
