American robotics company Agility Robotics is preparing to open the world's first factory for the mass production of humanoid robots called RoboFab. Located in Tangent, Oregon, the factory has already produced approximately 100 humanoid robots since its inception in 2016. One of the company's key customers is Amazon, which uses their Digit robots for testing.
It plans to move to the city of Salem to expand production, where the brand hopes to produce about 10,000 Androids a year. These "general purpose" robots are designed to perform a variety of tasks, including working alongside people.
"We are focusing on starting the production of robots as soon as possible. Our main plan is to create general-purpose humanoids as soon as possible," said Agility Robotics CEO Damion Shelton.
In general, this initiative shows the spread of the production and use of robots in various industries, including the service sector and work tasks alongside people.
