President of Portugal Marcelo Rebel de Souza announced the dissolution of parliament and the appointment of early elections, making such a decision after the resignation of Prime Minister Anthony Rosa, who was surrounded by a corruption scandal.
Rebel de Souza, speaking after the State Council meeting on November 9, announced the dissolution of the Republic of the Republic and the election on March 10, 2024. He made this decision in his intention to bring more clarity and establish an energetic course of government, restoring the confidence of citizens through elections.
The previous Prime Minister, Anthony Right, resigned on November 7 after a search at his residence in connection with possible corruption cases. According to the media, the cost is in the investigation associated with the LUSORECURSOS agreement on the production of lithium without following the established rules.
The cost itself believes that the investigation violates his ability to effectively perform his duties, although he is not suspected.
Despite the decision of Rebel de Sauza on the dissolution of Parliament, the figures of the Socialist Party, which has most seats, plan to vote for the Budget-2024 Budget, which is scheduled for November 29. A representative of the socialists, the cost, temporarily remains as the Prime Minister until the appointment of a new government in the March elections.
This crisis creates political fluctuations in Portugal and raises the question of the future political landscape of the country in the context of combating corruption and restoring citizens' confidence in the government.
