Poland has announced its intention to obtain a loan of half a billion zloty (approximately $ 130 million) from the European Investment Bank for the implementation of the ambitious project of construction of the European "Iron Dome" and its satellite component. This step is part of Poland's strategy to strengthen national security and defense in the background of increasing threats in the region.
This was reported, with reference to the briefing of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
According to Tusk, Warsaw plans to build a European Iron Dome with other EU countries for guarantees of a safe sky over Poland. Tusk stated that, based on the experience of Ukraine and Israel, one country would not be able to advice to guarantee the safety of airspace. Therefore, you need to create an "iron dome" above the whole region and the continent.
As it is noted, Poland has decided to build the appropriate satellite component within this program.
"On Monday, I will negotiate with the European Investment Bank to complete the financing process of this satellite component, and we will get a loan of half a billion zloty, which will increase our security," Tusk said.
According to the Polish Prime Minister, on Monday, May 20, he hopes to inform the successful completion of the credit process.
