Valerie Mahaffy died - a star of "desperate housewives" and laureate "Emmy"

At the age of 72, American actress Valer Mahaffy, most famous for the role of Alma Hodge in the cult series "Desperate Housewives," died. In recent years, she has been struggling with cancer. She was not in her own home in California, BBC reports with reference to family.

The sad news was confirmed by her husband, Joseph Kelle, who called Valerus "the love of all his life" and added that the country had lost one of her "sweetest acts".

Their daughter, Alice, wrote on social networks: "Cancer is horror. I will look for you in all the most interesting moments of life. I know what you will be there."

In the series "Desperate Housewives", Valerie Makhffy appeared in the third season, playing the role of Alma Hodgi, the mysterious first wife of the dentist Orson Hodgia (Kyle Mclachlen). Her character, who has disappeared in incomprehensible circumstances, returns to intervene in a new life of her husband. Alma dies at the end of the season as a result of an accident - this line has become one of the key in the plot. However, the role in housewives is only one page in Valer's rich acting career. She made her debut on screen in 1977 in the movie "Tell me my name", after which she mostly starred in television series. Viewers could see her in such projects as: "Ambulance", "Choir", "Man in High Castle", "Young Sheldon"-spin-off to "Big Bang Theory". In 1992, Mahffy received a prestigious TV Award "Emmy" for the best female role in the comedy series "Northern Exposition".

Valer Mahaffy left a noticeable footprint in the world of television. Her game was distinguished by subtle irony, psychology and depth - the actress was able to combine drama with comedic intonations, while maintaining warmth and naturalness.
