More than 14.6 million inhabitants of Ukraine, which is about 40% of the country's population, require humanitarian assistance, said Eden Vosorna. She expressed this data during a meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine.
Vosorna also grateful to donors, which provided $ 541 million for humanitarian aid, which allowed to provide assistance to 3 million people over the first two months of 2024. However, she emphasized that this is only 17% of the required $ 3.1 billion to meet humanitarian needs and respond to the UN plan for 2024.
In this context, it called on the international community to additionally support humanitarian operations in Ukraine and to do everything possible to support the people of Ukraine. According to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, more than 10.8 thousand civilians have been killed in the war from February 24, 2022, and more than 20.5 thousand were injured. However, the UN notes that actual figures may be larger.
