On Monday, March 31, the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) detained the State Labor Service official, who promised not to investigate the death of a minor guy who happened due to a fire at the enterprise for a bribe. For his services, the official demanded $ 5,000.
The event that caused the investigation occurred in early January 2025. As a result of the fire in one of the private woodworking hangars, a minor guy was killed. After that, the DBR sent official letters to the State Labor demanding to conduct an accident check and investigation.
At the same time, the official of the State Labor, in performing the duties of the chief of one of the departments of the Western Interregional Administration, suggested that the representative of the enterprise conclude an agreement: for $ 5,000 he promised not to carry out a check and not investigate the fact of the death of a teenager at the enterprise. A mediator was involved in the money to transfer money to organize the scheme.
The official and the mediator were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Both defendants were informed of suspicion of obtaining an undue benefit by an official (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). According to Ukrainian legislation, such activity entails serious criminal consequences.
