Canada Prime Minister Mark Carney considers China one of the most serious threats to global security and stability. About it reports Reuters. In particular, Karney noted that Beijing poses a threat to Canada in terms of foreign intervention, as well as in a new strategic context in the Arctic region.
According to the Head of Government, China is active in geopolitical activity, which carries risks not only for individual countries, but also for international order in general. He stressed the need to withstand any attempts by Beijing external influence, including information campaigns, economic pressure and interference with the domestic policy of other states.
The Canadian government, according to Karney, recently found an information operation that is associated with China. This campaign was directed against the Prime Minister himself on the eve of the Federal Elections, which emphasizes the extent and systematicity of Beijing.
In addition, Karney criticized China's position on war in Ukraine, emphasizing that Moscow's support from Beijing is a destabilizing factor not only for Europe but also for Asia, in particular for Taiwan.
The politician called on the international community not to underestimate the extent of the challenges created by China. In his opinion, it is necessary to form a joint response from Western countries to grow Beijing's influence, especially in strategically important regions, such as the Arctic.
