The President has submitted to the Council a bill on the creation of new specialized courts

President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on the formation of two new specialized courts - a specialized district administrative court and a specialized administrative court of appeal. Their jurisdiction will extend to the whole territory of Ukraine.

This is stated in the bill, which has already been agreed by the High Council of Justice.

According to the text of the document, both courts will be located in the city of Kiev, but will consider administrative cases of national importance. The creation of new institutions should provide more effective and independent consideration of cases related, in particular, to the activities of central authorities.

"The project of the Law is developed in order to fulfill the requirements of the Constitution of Ukraine, as well as the laws governing the creation and functioning of specialized courts," - said in the explanatory note to the bill.

This step is part of a broader judicial reform and aims to improve the quality of justice, provide citizens' access to a fair court, and strengthen the ability of the judicial system to resolve administrative disputes at the proper level.

Earlier, the creation of the relevant courts was supported by the High Council of Justice, which agreed to the bill and recognized it as corresponding to the constitutional principles of the judiciary.

It is expected that in the case of the Verkhovna Rada, the new courts will work after the relevant competitions and personnel decisions.
