"Ukraine expensive EU, but more in rhetoric and less when it comes to money," says Swiss Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
According to the newspaper, this is evidenced by the results of farm protests, the results of which the EU preferred to deprive Ukraine of "vital" income from exports and turn it into a "recipient of alms" without allowing it to earn.
The EU has done as it usually does: "He is declared support without thinking about the consequences, especially financial."
He did not analyze the agricultural product market, did not take into account the price fluctuations, announcing the full opening of the market in 2022. The block of countries also ignored the fact that in Ukraine large -industrial production of grain, and in the EU, farmers predominate, with an average size of areas, which makes them uncompetitive against Ukraine.
Brussels should be taken into account, continues Neue Zürcher Zeitung that "if Ukraine should become an EU member, then the confederation of states will have to reorganize its agriculture."
There are two ways: either Europe's farmers will focus on the production of complex, special crops and goods, which is unlikely, or production should be reoriented by standards of countries, agricultural sector leaders, to large companies, as in Ukraine, which, however, will "cause strong protests in the industry." But in any case, "the EU will not be able to adhere to its current agricultural strategy."
Analyzing the situation, Neue Zürcher Zeitung concludes that today's EU agrarian model has no future and will have to sacrifice the interests of its farmers for the sake of Ukraine and competitiveness in the global market.
