The topic of women's mobilization in Ukraine has caused a wide public debate, but the Verkhovna Rada emphasized that rumors about the forced mobilization of women are groundless. The member of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Solomiya Bobrovskaya stressed that Ukrainian legislation does not provide for mandatory conscription for women. Currently, the male mobilization resource is sufficient to meet the needs of defense forces.
According to Bobrovskaya, the possibility of joining women into the army remains purely voluntary, and in the case of service, women are entitled to release under certain conditions, such as pregnancy or child care.
Bobrovskaya also expressed its position on the preparation of citizens for national resistance. She believes that basic military training or training at the military department should be mandatory for all citizens, regardless of gender. This, in her opinion, will facilitate the preparation of society for possible challenges and will provide the necessary skills in case of aggravation of the situation.
At the same time, the deputy stressed that the mobilization of women is not planned, and the topic of this initiative is artificially raised in society. The purpose of women's military training is only to provide them with basic emergency behavior, which is part of the national defense concept.
