Putin signed a decree to increase the size of the Russian army to 1.5 million soldiers

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, signed a decree on a significant increase in the number of the country's armed forces. According to the new decree, the staff strength of the Russian army will be increased to 1.5 million servicemen. The decree will enter into force on December 1, 2024, which will significantly expand the total number of Russian armed forces to 2.39 million people.

On September 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to increase the number of Russian armed forces to 1.5 million servicemen. This is reported by the Russian mass media with reference to the text of the decree.

According to Putin's decree, the number of Russian armed forces is set at 2,389,130 ​​people, including 1,500,000 servicemen.

In the previous decree, this figure was 2,209,130 ​​people, including 1,320,000 military personnel.

The new decree enters into force on December 1, 2024.
