Russian President Vladimir Putin called for the creation of a new security system in Eurasia that could include NATO European countries. He stated this at a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"It is time to start a wide discussion of a new system of bilateral and multilateral guarantees of collective security in Eurasia. In the future, it is necessary to gradually curtail the military presence of external states in the Eurasian region," Putin said.
He noted that in the current situation, this proposal may seem unrealistic. "But if we create a reliable security system, the presence of extra -regional military contingents will not be necessary. There is no need for any need today, it's just an occupation," Putin added.
To achieve this, he proposed to establish a dialogue with all potential participants in the future security system, in particular with states that are ready for constructive cooperation with Russia.
"We need to formulate the outline of equal and indivisible security, mutually beneficial cooperation and development on the Eurasian continent. The future security architecture should be opened to all Eurasian countries, including NATO European countries. We live on one continent, and geography cannot be changed," Putin said.
He also reported that he had discussed this initiative with the head of the PRC, Xi Jinping, and he was consistent with Chinese global security initiatives.
In addition, Putin supported the initiative of Belarus to create a "Charter of Multipolarity and Diversity in the 21st Century", which invites Western countries to join the principles to build a just world order.
