During his annual press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared Russia's alleged readiness for negotiations and compromises on the end of the war in Ukraine.
"Politics is the art of compromise. We have always said that both negotiations and compromises. Simply, the opposite side has refused the negotiations. And we are always ready for it. And the result of negotiations is always compromises," the Russian leader said.
Putin again urged Ukraine to return to the “agreements in Istanbul”, which, he said, was parished in Kiev in 2022, but later rejected. He once again accused the negotiations of the former Prime Minister of Boris Johnson, who, he said, "persuaded Zelensky to fight until the last Ukrainian."
At the same time, Putin questioned the legitimacy of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. At the same time, he recognized the legitimate Verkhovna Rada and its speaker, stating that Russia is ready to speak with any person who will receive legitimacy after elections in Ukraine, including Zelensky.
