Raphael Benitez spoke about the reasons for his release from Real Madrid. The Spanish coach explained that his departure was not related to the conflict with Cristiano Ronaldo, as sometimes it was argued in the media, but exclusively with internal problems in the club.
"It is not true that my departure from Real Madrid is connected with Ronaldo. We had no misunderstandings. He is a prominent player and a real phenomenon. I decided to go because of some internal difficulties in the club that had no relation to Ronaldo," Benites emphasized in his interview for the Spanish newspaper .
Benitez came to Real in the summer of 2015, gathering a fairly strong composition, but his coaching term in the team lasted only six months. The Spanish specialist was unable to withstand competition in the coaching market and, in the end, was dismissed in January 2016. His place in the club was taken by Zinedin Zidan, who in a short time forced Real Madrid to obtain many important titles, including three Champions League in a row.
Despite this short period of work, Benitez has kept a good relationship with club players, including Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo showed high sports results during his collaboration with Benitez, and in many interviews, the trainer praised the Portuguese for his skill and professionalism.
As for internal problems in the club, Benitez did not detail what it was discussed. However, his departure has become one of the most discussed events in the history of Real Madrid in recent years. With the change of the trainer, the team began to show better results, and recently under the leadership of Zidan "Real" gained several large titles, confirming its power in the international arena.
