Today, January 23, the 18th meeting of the military coalition called "Ramstein" in support of Ukraine is scheduled, in which representatives of about 50 countries will participate. This meeting became a traditional form of discussion of the situation and plans for supporting Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.
The RBC-Ukraine material contains information obtained from various sources, such as the Pentagon press service, the Ministry of Defense of Estonia, The Wall Street Journal, ERR, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, the Minister of Defense Rustem Umyerov and representatives of the White House. It is noted that the meeting will be held online due to the hospitalization of Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, who underwent surgery for prostate cancer.
In addition, at previous Ramstein events, participants announced new military aid packages for Ukraine, including ammunition, missiles, electronic warfare systems and other equipment. The member countries of the group also discussed the possibility of sending financial aid and a strategy plan to support Ukraine.
It is noted that a new aid package from the US worth 250 million dollars has been prepared, but its approval in Congress is temporarily complicated by disputes over migration control measures. US President Joe Biden appealed to congressional leaders to discuss border security and aid to Ukraine.
At previous Ramstein meetings, Ukraine actively cooperated with partners, in particular, it received support from a number of member countries of the group, such as the USA, Germany, France and others, in efforts to ensure security and border protection.
