On November 17, Russian troops made the largest attack on Ukraine since late August, using 120 missiles and 90 drones. This massive attack was the first after the election of the US President, chosen by Donald Trump to whom he was given a promise to end the war in 24 hours. In reality, the Russian aggressor continues to demonstrate its determination to achieve the maximum goals: to intimidate and conquer Ukraine, which is confirmed by a new wave of shelling. An important point in this attack is the use of aerobalist missiles "dagger", which can carry nuclear warheads and can develop speed up to ten times higher than the speed of sound.
Analyzing the causes and consequences of this massive attack, journalists point out that its main purpose is not only the physical destruction of infrastructure, but also the moral pressure on the population. In particular, during the attack on November 17, amounts were injured, where 10 casualties were recorded and more than 60 wounded. In addition, despite the high level of missiles (85% of 120), it is the psychological attack - numerous air alarm signals and constant explosions - deplete Ukrainians, which inevitably affects the moral state of the population. The dagger missiles, like other ammunition used during the attack, have the potential for not only ordinary but also nuclear blows. Their high speed and maneuverability make them extremely difficult to intercept, which threatens not only the military but also civilian infrastructure.
It is worth noting the cynical position of the Kremlin, which becomes obvious at the diplomatic level. After the recent negotiations of German Chancellor Olaf Soltz with Vladimir Putin, Russia announced that her position had not changed. The Kremlin not only stated that the attack on Ukraine was a direct result of NATO policy, but also demanded the recognition of "new territorial realities". This is an open reference to the annexation of the occupied territories, which according to the Kremlin, should be part of a peace agreement. This position looks more irreconcilable, and even among the Western diplomats, there are signs that Ukraine may be treated with a partial loss of territories for peace. However, Russia continues to put forward conditions that do not leave Ukraine with any options except for the continuation of the fight, regardless of whether it receives support from the West.
What happened on Sunday, November 17, only emphasizes the scale of Russian aggression and the fact that the end of the war is not on the horizon. It is possible that even a change in US political course or other global changes will not be able to significantly affect the Kremlin's determination, which has repeatedly proved its ability to strategic maneuver. While Russia continues the offensive, Ukraine, despite all the difficulties, continues to resist, and its strength and endurance on the battlefield are not in doubt.
