The Russian Government plans historically high costs for military needs in 2024, exceeding the amount of funding for social programs for the first time. According to the State Duma approved by the federal budget for 2024 and the planned period 2025-2026, the revenues of the budget of the Russian Federation will be 35 trillion rubles in 2024, 33.5 trillion in 2025 and 34.1 trillion in 2026.
The most striking part of the budget is record costs for military goals. In 2024, 29.4% of the budget was allocated to the National Defense, which is about 10.8 trillion rubles. These funds will be suitable for the needs of the army, military industry and social payments to combatants.
This amount is almost twice as high as the cost of military needs for the budget for 2023 (6.4 trillion rubles), and will be approximately 6% of Russia's GDP, making it one of the leaders in terms of expenses in the world.
It is noted that these costs exceed the allocated funds for social programs. Russia is also marked by a significant increase in the planned defense costs, which have doubled to more than $ 100 billion for 2023 and are the third part of the country's government expenditures during this period.
In addition, since the beginning of 2023 the secret expenditures of the Russian Federation reached 3 trillion rubles ($ 37.5 billion), which is almost 26% of all government expenditures.
