The US Republican Party has initiated a bill that provides for the replacement of Benjamin Franklin portrait with a 100-dollar banknote with the image of the current President Donald Trump.
The initiative was a member of Congress Brandon Gill, who considers this step a "small way" to honor Trump's merits before the country. According to Gill, Trump is "over -defense" to protect the US border, to correct trade relations, to restore America's energy independence and to reduce inefficient foreign assistance. If the bill is approved, the US Minister of Finance should submit the design of a new bill by the end of 2026, and Trump's banknotes may be in circulation from 2029.
Historically, changing currency design is a complex process. The last time of the American bill was replaced in 1929, when Andrew Jackson replaced Cleveland Grover with a 20-dollar banknote. In 2016, Barack Obama administration proposed to replace Jackson's portrait with Harriet Tabman, but after Trump came this plan. The current legislation of the United States prohibits the image of living people on currency, so it will have to be changed so that Trump can appear in the bill.
It should be reminded that on March 3, Donald Trump stated that he plans to become the sole President of the United States, for which Ukraine has not lost its territories. He also announced an "important event" that should take place during the day.
