Russia threatened Japan with rigid measures in the event of weapons supply to Ukraine. The response to the Tokyo's decision to join the NATO Center, which is engaged in the assistance and preparation in the field of safety for Ukraine, was sharp.
The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, stated that if Japan begins to supply weapons and military equipment to Ukraine, Russia will take appropriate rigid measures. She stressed that these actions would cause serious damage to Japan in the most sensitive areas for her.
Zakharova also noted that Japan, trying to accelerate the remillitarization, is increasingly involved in military assistance to Ukraine. Russian representatives are convinced that Tokyo will worsen relations between countries and called Japan to a more cautious foreign policy.
The Russian side also noted that Japan's actions in this area can have serious consequences not only for bilateral relations, but also for the security of the region as a whole. The response of the Russian Federation, according to Zakharova, may be "inevitable", and it will be aimed at causing the maximum possible losses to the interests of Japan.
