The Russian industry produces artillery shells about three times faster and a quarter cheaper than Western allies of Ukraine.
In 2024, the Russian Federation plans to produce 4.5 million ammunition. It is unknown which proportion of them belongs to the renewed or produced. At the same time, the US and Europe are planning to produce 1.3 million shells.
The average cost of production of a projectile 155 mm, the type used by NATO countries is about $ 4,000 per unit. Instead, the cost of production of 152 mm caliber shells used by the Russian Armed Forces is about $ 1,000 per one.
