The rating of French President's approval Emmanuel Macron has grown to the highest level since June. The publication links such popularity to the politician with his position and statements on Ukraine.
"This may be related to the calls of the leader to Europe to strengthen Ukraine's support," the newspaper writes. It is noted that the data of the IFOP survey for Ouest-France indicate that the rating of Macron's approval among the French increased to 31% in March. This is seven points higher than the previous month, and almost corresponds to the level that was shortly before last year's extraordinary parliamentary elections.
The agency emphasizes that the opinion of the French about the President has changed against the background of his active participation in European efforts to increase defense and support Ukraine, especially in the context of reducing US assistance.
"Citizens also evaluated the fact that the President of France suggested that the country's nuclear weapon use to protect allies on the continent," the article reads.
According to a survey, 53% of respondents are concerned about war in Ukraine. Moreover, 84% of the French said that peace can be achieved only with the participation of Kiev in negotiations.
The agency drew attention to the fact that the rating of Macron's approval among the elderly, pensioners and "white collar", which are his strongest supporters, increased by two points in March. It happened after a sharp fall, which was observed last summer, when the President of France declared an extraordinary election, which resulted in Parliament proved to be deeply split.
