In Russia, it is planned to significantly strengthen control over foreign trips of top officials and parliamentarians due to the possibility of issuing orders at their arrest by an international criminal court in connection with the conflict in Ukraine. According to the new bill, which has been entered in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, senators and deputies will be obliged to coordinate their departures abroad; Otherwise, they may be deprived of their authority.
The document explains that such measures are necessary to avoid possible arrest in countries that recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court. It is noted that some Russian parliamentarians have already initiated criminal cases in such countries or their jurisdiction. Although the ISS has not announced the issuance of warrants for their arrest, experts believe that such legislative initiatives indicate the possibility of such actions in the future or there are already orders that the Russian authorities already have information from special services.
