Alexei Navalny, a well -known Russian opposition figure, died suddenly after a walk in the colony, reports the Russian Federal Sentence Service.
According to ambulance doctors, Navalny felt bad after a walk and lost consciousness soon, which was why he was reported dead.
"We have carried out all possible resuscitation measures, but unfortunately, unsuccessfully. Emergency doctors have declared his death. The reasons for this tragic case are established," - cited in the message (quote by Interfax).
Alexei Navalny was 47 years old.
Navalny's defender is refrained from comments, noting: "According to the decision of the family of Alexei Navalny, I will not make comments. The situation is currently being considered. The lawyer visited him on Wednesday. Then everything was good," - said lawyer Leonid Solovyov “New Gazeta”.
Navalny Kira Yarmysh's pressecretar denies information about the death of the oppositionist to the Russian media, noting that she has no confirmation.
Navalny served his sentence in a special regime colony in the village of Harp behind the Arctic Circle.
Representatives of the Public Record Commission of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District claim that Navalny did not complain about his health, although his daughter mentions cases in an interview with the US media when he lost consciousness in prison.
The Federal Service for the Execution of Sentences of the Russian Federation reported that it was sending a commission to the colony where Navalny died.
The causes of Navalny's death will be determined by medical specialists, the Kremlin representative Dmitry Peskov said.
"According to all the current rules, the Federal Sentence Service conducts all the necessary inspections and investigations. No special orders are required because there are established rules," Peskov told reporters.
He also reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin had already reported the death of Navalny.
"Yes, he was informed. The doctors will be investigated now," the Kremlin's representative added.
On January 10, Navalny was connected for the first time after a long break by video communication from a new colony in Yamal for participation in the court hearing. It was the first emergence of a policy on the screen since early December, when it was transferred to a colony by the Arctic Circle.
In August 2020, Navalny tried to kill. The politician lost consciousness on board the aircraft flying to Moscow. After the emergency planting of the aircraft, he was hospitalized with signs of poisoning.
