In order to control the situation in the Kupyansk-Liman direction, Russian troops attempt to capture the city of Kupyansk and the village of Kupyansk-nodst, and also try to get out on the turn of the left bank of the Oskil River. According to Shevtsov, Russian troops are trying to replenish their ranks and restore the losses they suffered in this direction, informs Radio Liberty. He also noted that the losses of the Russian Federation range from 200 to 300 servicemen and about 20 units of military equipment daily.
These actions of the Russian army , in particular shelling of the artillery of border settlements, are jeopardized by civilians, so Shevtsov urged them to evacuate them, if possible.
It should be noted that according to analysts of the American Institute of War Study (ISW), the Russian army intends to capture Avdiivka and Kupyansk before the presidential elections in the Russian Federation, planned for March 2024.
Since the liberation of Kupyansk and most of the district in September 2022, the city and its surrounding area undergo constant shelling by the Russian forces. The situation in the Kupyansk-Liman direction remains tense, said Colonel-General Alexander Sirsky, commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
