Russia and Venezuela signed a memorandum to counter "coercive measures"

Russia and Venezuela have made a memorandum of understanding to counteract "forced measures", which, according to the American Institute of War (ISW), can serve as a demonstration of the Kremlin's influence in the Western Hemisphere.

Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Venezuela, Sergey Lavrov and Ivan Gil, signed an agreement during the Brix summit on June 11. The memorandum is aimed at developing a common strategy for confrontation with "one -sided forced measures" through diplomatic and information channels.

According to ISW analysis, both parties provided little details on the agreement, and public statements with the details of the agreement were not permanent. The memorandum was concluded after the visit of Russian warships in Cuba and Venezuela, which, according to the Institute's findings, was aimed at increasing Russia's influence in the region.

The Kremlin seeks to use this new memorandum to convey Russian narratives about the multipolar world of a country that does not associate itself with the "Russian peace".
