Russia plans to involve military people from North Korea in Ukraine. About it reports the Center for Combating Misinformation at the NSDC of Ukraine with reference to the analyst of Alexander Kovalenko. According to him, the Kremlin considers the possibility of using the DPRK army in hostilities against Ukraine, while hiding the actual participation of foreign troops under the guise of alleged "protection of Russian territories".
According to the expert, the Russian authorities intend to present North Korean servicemen in the war as operations in their own territory. It is about occupied Ukrainian regions that Russia considers part of its state after the so -called "referendums" and changes to its constitution. This is what Moscow allows to argue that the DPRK is in Russia, which formally excludes the possibility of accusation of internationalization of the conflict.
According to Kovalenko, the DPRK soldiers, if they are really transferred to the front, will be fighting in Russian. It will also complicate the identification of their nationality and will allow the Kremlin to avoid the official recognition of the presence of foreign military in the war zone.
In addition to the possible participation in the war, Russia also actively introduces North Korean labor to the country. According to information, it is about young people aged 18 to 25 years - both men and women. They are mainly involved in work in industries, especially in the conditions of lack of labor through the mobilization of their own population.
According to estimates, the North Korea government receives about a thousand dollars from Russia for each employee. However, most of these funds settle in the hands of the North Korean authorities, and the workers and their relatives receive only a small part. This scheme is reminiscent of the practice of the Soviet Union after the Korean War, when the USSR also used cheap labor with the DPRK in exchange for the supply of resources.
At the moment, there were no official statements by North Korea or Russia on the participation of Korean military in hostilities in Ukraine. However, such plans are of concern because they testify to Russia's intentions to attract foreign resources in their aggression against Ukraine.
Involvement of military DPRK may have far -reaching consequences for international security and push for even greater escalation of conflict. The Ukrainian side monitors the situation and calls for the international community to increase diplomatic and economic pressure on both Russia and North Korea in the event of such intentions.
