According to The New York Times, in the last two years of the war in Ukraine, Russia has destroyed or damaged more than 210 thousand buildings. This shocking statistics are the result of an analysis of radar satellite data that can even identify small changes in construction.
The estimate of 210 thousand destroyed or damaged buildings is, according to scientists, the most optimistic. The real number may be even greater, indicating the extent of the destruction that the war has led to the country.
It is noted that half of the destroyed buildings are located in the Donbass, which is one of the most affected areas as a result of the conflict.
According to the study, among 210 thousand damaged buildings, about 900 objects are included in the list protected by the Geneva Conventions. These include 106 hospitals, 109 churches, and 708 schools, universities and colleges.
Kharkiv, Rubizhne, Marinka and Irpin were recognized as the most affected cities, except Mariupol.
