The prosecutor's office is investigating the fact of the execution of five prisoners of war of the Armed Forces by Russian invaders near the village of Novodarivka, Pologov district, Zaporizhzhia region. The crime occurred on November 24 during active fighting in the region. About it reports the office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
According to preliminary information, five of the defenders of Ukraine captured, five were shot by the Russian military. Investigators received a video that recorded the moment of execution, and installed a unit of the army of the Russian Federation, whose soldiers are checked for involvement in this war crime.
The investigation is carried out under Part 2 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - a violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder.
The Prosecutor General's office stressed that the execution of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva conventions and qualifies as a serious international crime. Ukrainian law enforcement officers take all measures to identify the perpetrators and bring them accountable.
