A unique opportunity has appeared on the luxury yacht rental market for those who dream of an elite vacation on the water. Four superyachts, specially built for Russian customers, are now available for charter by a well-known yacht charter agency.
The most expensive Flying Fox, which has been linked to Domodedovo airport owner Dmitry Kamenyar, can be chartered for €4 million a week, the megayacht Axioma, which previously belonged to the former co-owner of Trubna Metalurgiyna Kompaniya (TMK) and close friend of Putin, Dmitry Pumpyansky will be rented for the summer season for €660,000 per week. But a week's rest on the sailing Black Pearl, which was at the center of a lawsuit for the inheritance of another Russian oligarch, Oleg Burlakov, will cost €1.2 million, Forbes reports.
The $445 million Flying Fox yacht, built in 2019 at one of the shipyards of the German company Lurssen, is today considered the world's largest and most expensive yacht available for charter - its length is 136 m. In March 2022, the vessel was investigated by employees of the Ministry of the Interior security of the United States.
The yacht was supposed to leave the port after replenishing supplies and fuel on March 25, but left it only on April 22. Dmytro Kamenyar, who was called the owner of Flying Fox, was not sanctioned, and the reasons for the detention of the yacht remained unknown. In June 2022, the ship's management company, Imperial Yachts, was added to the sanctions lists. The US Treasury claimed that it was connected to Russian citizens who were under sanctions.
The same broker rents the yacht Axioma (size 72 m), which previously belonged to the former co-owner of TMK, Dmytro Pumpyanskyi. In September 2022, it was sold at auction for $37.5 million, the deal for its sale was closed after a thorough inspection of the new owner, whose identity has not been disclosed. Bluewater confirmed to Forbes that they are chartering the Axioma that was auctioned, adding that the yacht is already booked for August.
Pumpiansky bought a yacht in 2013 for $67 million, in March 2022 the billionaire fell under EU sanctions, all his accounts were blocked, and the yacht was frozen in Gibraltar. Pumpiansky was the guarantor of a $21.5 million loan that JP Morgan issued to the superyacht management company Pyrene Investments. To get the money back, the bank demanded the sale of Axioma. So far, this is the only case of sale of yachts frozen due to anti-Russian sanctions. On June 26, the European sanctions were lifted from Pumpyansky by the court's decision.
In September 2021, the construction of his second yacht - the 48-meter My Bro - began at the Turkish shipyard Dunya Yachts by order of Dmytro Pumpiansky. According to the plans, the ship was supposed to become an auxiliary for the Axioma yacht - to receive guests arriving by helicopter without disturbing the passengers of the main ship, to transport various water toys and even submarines.
The cost of building the new boat was estimated at $25-30 million, it was supposed to be delivered to the customer in 2023, but it was completed only in 2024 and is now rented out as an independent vessel, promising an unforgettable vacation for the most demanding guests.
The three-deck sailing yacht Black Pearl, one of the most beautiful and environmentally friendly superyachts in the world, is available for charter for €1.2 million per week. The vessel, the cost of which is estimated at $200 million, was built in 2018 for Russian entrepreneur Oleg Burlakov, who died of the coronavirus in 2021. After the businessman's death, the sailboat was at the center of high-profile legal proceedings for his inheritance, which the oligarch's family still cannot divide among themselves.
However, as the journalists write, today there are risks for renting any yachts related to Russia. Yes, the charter yacht can be detained and personal belongings of the tenants can be seized as physical evidence until certain circumstances are clarified. The warrant may be for a yacht, and everyone on board will be affected. It cannot be ruled out that the tenants could end up in a local jail while the authorities decide what to do with the American warrant or request.
Earlier it became known that Medvedchuk's luxury yacht acquired the status of a Ukrainian vessel. The Royal Romance yacht received a certificate of the right to sail under the state flag of Ukraine, the corresponding changes have already been made to the International Maritime Organization. This was reported by the press service of the National Agency for Search and Asset Management (ARMA). According to Yevhen Ignatenko, the head of the Shipping Administration, relevant changes have already been made to the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
