Under the Avdiivka, in the Avdiivsky direction, Russian invaders committed a new animal crime, shooting unarmed soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces), who were captured due to lack of ammunition. This war crime took place near the village of Stepovo in Donetsk region.
The invaders tried to penetrate the positions of the 45th separate Rifle Battalion of the Armed Forces. The conditions of capture were the lack of ammunition among the Armed Forces. One by one, the fighters came out of shelter with their hands raised and lay on the ground. However, the Russian invaders not only violated all the laws and customs of war, but also committed a war crime, opening fire on defenseless prisoners.
The speaker of the Tavriya Veterans Office Alexander Planon, commenting on the video, said: "Russian invaders cynically violate the rules and customs of war. This video will be transferred to the relevant international institutions engaged in military crimes."
The paratrooper of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Kolim, who confirmed the murder of the prisoners, stated that his unit, the 45th separate Rifle Battalion, would no longer be captured. This military formation is part of a separate North Corps of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces. Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets initiated an official appeal to the International Committee of the Red Cross and stressed that the murder of prisoners was a war crime.
The prosecutor's office's investigation has already been started, and the responsibility for this act should be determined in the international context. Crimes against prisoners of war not only violate international humanitarian law, but also require a proper punishment for all guilty parties, including the higher leadership of Russia.
