Intelligence reports that the troops of North Korea (DPRK) are actively involved in supporting the Russian armed forces. In particular, soldiers from the DPRK undergo tactical training as part of Russian units, take part in combat operations and train to counter drones. In addition, the DPRK supplies weapons to the Russian army.
- Training: Soldiers from the DPRK are integrated into Russian airborne and naval units, where they are trained in combat tactics and countering drones.
- Participation in battles: Part of the North Korean military is already on the front lines. At the end of October, they were transferred to the Kursk region, a region where active hostilities continue.
In addition to human resources, the DPRK transferred modern weapons to Russia, in particular:
- Self-propelled artillery installations of 170 mm caliber.
- Reactive salvo systems of caliber 240 mm.
This confirms the close military cooperation between the two states.
The National Intelligence Service (NIS) suggests that the engagement of North Korean troops in combat has already resulted in casualties among personnel.
The involvement of the North Korean military and the supply of weapons indicate the strengthening of cooperation between the DPRK and the Russian Federation, which may affect the balance of forces in the region. Such support allows Russia to compensate for the loss of personnel and equipment in the war against Ukraine.
