The United States can get out of the process of peaceful settlement of war in Ukraine if there is no significant progress in the near future. This was reported by State Secretary Marco Rubio during a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
According to the representative of the State Department of Temma Bruce, in a conversation, the Secretary of State informed the ally of the proposal previously voiced by the Ukrainian delegation in Paris and handed over to the Russian side by the Russian side. It provides potential steps to complete the fighting.
Rubio gave the hope of the US side that the initiative would receive a proper assessment and facilitate peace. At the same time, he warned that in the absence of a significant progress, the United States may refuse further attempts to be a mediator in this process.
He stressed that the United States, although supporting efforts to end the war, does not see the point of continuing diplomatic efforts without a corresponding answer on both sides.
The content of the proposal itself is not disclosed, but the fact that it was transferred to both the Ukrainian and Russian side testifies to active diplomatic work, which continues despite the difficult situation on the front.
