NATO's final communique, which takes place in the Hague, expected important wording regarding Ukraine's support. This was stated by the newly elected NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during a briefing on the eve of the summit.
“You will see important formulations on Ukraine, including the connection of defense expenses by 2035 with Ukraine so that it can continue to continue the fight. This is a clear obligation of the Allies, ”Rutte emphasized.
He also recalled that the Allies have committed to Ukraine this year for the amount of 35 billion euros. This is a considerable amount, given that over the past year, the volume of support was just over 50 billion euros.
“This shows that support does not decrease, but on the contrary - it increases. And this is a very positive dynamics that is needed to achieve a strong and long peace, ”Rutte emphasized.
The formulations that will appear in the summit decision are not only political but also strategic importance, consolidating the long -term prospect of defense cooperation with Ukraine.
