Yesterday, a large-scale exchange of prisoners of war took place, during which 224 military personnel and 6 civilians returned home. 225 men and 5 women were released from captivity, including 130 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 55 National Guardsmen, 38 border guards and 1 representative of the National Police.
It was noted that among the returned 182 persons had the official status of prisoners of war, which was confirmed by the International Committee of the Red Cross, while 48 Ukrainian servicemen were considered missing and had the status of "wanted person".
The exchange took place at the initiative of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, and with the participation of various agencies, including the Office of the President, the State Security Service, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Reintegration, and others.
Those freed from captivity will receive backpacks with clothes, shoes, hygiene products and smartphones, prepared by the National Information Bureau together with the Ministry of Reintegration.
In addition, the National Information Bureau will provide those freed from captivity with assistance in restoring documents and SIM cards, as well as quickly collect the necessary documents for receiving one-time monetary assistance from the state in the amount of 100 thousand hryvnias.
