The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, on the eve of the New Year, included the "traditions of a generous evening in Ukraine" in the national list of elements of intangible cultural heritage of the country. This holiday, with a long history, has now gained the status of an important aspect of cultural heritage.
The press service of the Ministry of Culture reported that "the tradition of generosity is alive: it has undergone difficult trials in our history and preserved thanks to its carriers, thanks to those who popularized it at different times."
Temporary Acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Rostislav Karandeyev, expressed his recognition: “We have thousands of examples when the national cultural heritage inspired artists to create contemporary works with ethnic motives.
The traditions of a generous evening in Ukraine include New Year's detours, which have deep roots in pre -Christian times. They also include 12 ritual dishes, custom of cooking for a generous evening, dressing, "goat driving", lightning and generosity. An important element of this tradition is the world -famous work "Shchedryk", which emphasizes the cultural wealth of Ukraine.
