AI and electric vehicles have become the reason for the rapid development of gas-fired power plants in the United States

In response to the rapid increase in electricity consumption associated with the development of artificial intelligence (AI), electricity and other energy -intensive technologies, US energy companies plan a large -scale expansion of gas power power capacity. This unexpected exaltation of gas energy notes a new stage in American energy infrastructure, where natural gas is becoming an increasingly critical source of electricity.

The situation in the US electricity market has changed due to increased demand from the CII processing centers, as well as from production enterprises and electric vehicles. In conditions where the amount of data and computing increases exponentially, the need for stable and large -scale electricity sources has increased significantly. Gas power plants, due to their ability to quickly respond to variables of electricity needs, have become a solution to this problem.

In the first six months of 2024, the number of new gas power plants in the United States exceeded the volumes announced for the whole of 2020. At the moment, there are more than 200 gas installations in different stages of development, which plan to launch by 2032, providing a total of about 86 GW of new electric capacities. This is a significant increase compared to previous forecasts that indicated a possible decline in internal gas demand.

Natural gas has already exceeded coal in 2016 as the main source of electricity in the United States, and now its role is only growing. One of the reasons is that gas power plants have the ability to quickly adjust to the change of load, which makes them ideal complement to renewable energy sources that may be unstable.

Electricity consumption is expected to increase the data centers ten times by 2030, which requires rapid expansion of energy infrastructure. This growth also reflects the need for new technologies to maintain constant and reliable power supply.
