Six ministers in Peru have lost their posts over the Rolex watch scandal

President Peru, Dina Boloarte, has replaced six government ministers because of a political crisis caused by a scandal about illegal enrichment related to ROLEX clock.

The uprising in the government took place on Monday, when the legislators filed a request for the removal of President Peru from office from post due to "constant moral incapacity" in just three days after the police searched for its apartment to find Rolex watches as part of the investigation.

To eliminate the Boloarter from the post of President, 87 votes in a 130-seater unicameral parliament are required. Currently, five parties, together with 54 votes, have expressed support to the president after the search.

Boluard is underway for an alleged acquisition of an undisputed collection of luxurious watches after it became a Vice President and Minister of Social Policy in July 2021, and later by the President of the country in December 2022.

On Monday, Boloarte first lost three members of the government when the ministers of the Interior, Education and Rights of Women suddenly resigned.

Interior Minister Viktor Torres told reporters that he had resigned due to family circumstances, while the heads of the Ministry of Women Nancy Talentino and the Ministry of Education, Miriam Posce, did not publicly reported the reasons for the resignation.

After their resignation, ministers of agriculture, production and foreign trade were also released.

After that, Boloarte introduced six new ministers into the government, in particular, Voltaire Ortis, a retired police officer who was previously a director of organized crime, as a Minister of Internal Affairs. In total, the Cabinet of Ministers of Peru has 18 ministries.
