German Chancellor Olaf Soltz had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, which discussed ways to reach peace in Ukraine. The focus was the importance of ending the war as soon as possible and the fair settlement of the conflict.
"During my current telephone conversation with the US President Trump, we agreed: it is important to embark on the path of honest and just peace for Ukraine as soon as possible.
The conversation took place in the context of finding international mechanisms to resolve the situation and further support Ukraine by Western partners.
Scholt stressed that Germany will continue to remain a reliable partner for Ukraine, both in military and humanitarian support. The Chancellor also emphasized the importance of the unity of the international community in supporting Ukraine in its struggle for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
According to Scholtz, US President Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to work on finding ways to a peaceful settlement of war in Ukraine. This may mean increasing diplomatic efforts in international formats such as UN or other negotiating sites.
