German Chancellor Olaf Solz opposed the NATO plan to create an unmanned area in the west of Ukraine, calling it the direct involvement of the Alliance in Ukraine in Ukraine. According to Scholz, this can lead to unpredictable consequences and transformation of Germany into a "war participant". He expressed his position during a speech at the West of the Social Democratic Party of Germany in the city of Carlsrue.
The Chancellor emphasized the need to make prudence and caution, emphasizing the importance of avoiding emotional reactions in such matters. His remarks concerned the plan proposed by Anders Fog Rasmussen to support Ukraine and strengthen its defense capability under NATO.
The plan envisaged the creation of an unmanned area and deployment of air defense systems along the western border of Ukraine in order to protect the country from possible attacks of Russia. Scholt considers such measures dangerous and possible conflict provocatives.
Chancellor stressed that Ukraine's support is important, but Germany, together with Europe and the United States, does not intend to go into a direct war with Russia. He called for caution and concentration on diplomatic efforts to settle the conflict.
