Sweden invests in weapons production for Ukraine

Since the commencement of full -scale aggression of Russia against Ukraine, Sweden continues to provide significant military support. Recently, the largest military assistance package worth 13.5 billion Swedish crowns (about $ 1.2 billion) has been announced. This is the 18th package of assistance, the total cost of which is more than $ 5.6 billion, including both ready weapons and investments in the production of new weapons, in particular in Ukraine.

Almost half of the new assistance, namely 5.9 billion Swedish crowns ($ 534 million), will be aimed at the production of new weapons that are priority for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Sweden's Defense Minister Paul Joneson said that it is a short -term position and are critical for the Ukrainian military. Another 2.8 billion Swedish crowns ($ 250 million) will be sent to fund various defense programs, including the production of long -range missiles and drones in Ukraine. Some of the funds will also be used to prepare the Ukrainian military under the Interflex program and support the weapons already transferred.

Sweden will also hand over to Ukraine ready weapons worth 3.3 billion Swedish crowns (about $ 300 million). This includes 146 trucks, 16 CB 90 boats, 23 marine modules, 1500 Tow anti-tank missiles, 200 AT-4 grenade launchers, as well as machine gun cartridges, infantry and ammunition. In addition, 930 million Swedish crowns ($ 75.3 million) will be sent to Ukrainian military training programs, and another 400 million Swedish crowns ($ 36.3 million) will be supported in support of weapons.

It is worth noting that before the announcement of a new package of assistance between the Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and Sweden, a meeting was announced, which was announced on the beginning of joint projects in the field of air defense, long -range means of damage and ammunition, which should be an important step in strengthening Ukraine's defense capability.
