This was stated by the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Ministry Nicolas Bido, emphasizing that the country is ready to maintain diplomatic efforts to achieve peace, if it is recognized as necessary for the stability of international relations.
Switzerland traditionally plays the role of mediator in international negotiations, and this initiative is part of its constant readiness to promote peaceful processes, especially in the context of the current geopolitical situation. Bido stressed that the government of the country has the right to make an exception to organize peace talks, even despite the order of the International Criminal Court (ICS) for the arrest of Vladimir Putin. On March 17, 2023, the International Criminal Court in Hague issued a warrant for the arrest of Vladimir Putin and the Russian Ombudsman of Russia, Maria Lviv-Belova. They are accused of illegal deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia since the beginning of the war in February 2022.
