The Singapore government has announced the closure of the beaches of the popular sea resort due to the spill of oil, which occurred as a result of the collision of two ships in the navigable terminal Pasir Panjang. The oil stain spread to the adjacent Tangng, Palavan and Siloso beaches after leakage from a damaged cargo bunning vessel.
Singapore's marine and port management actively worked on the isolation of the damaged ship and the localization of the spill, but could not completely avoid contamination. 16 vessels have already been involved in eliminating the consequences of the incident. Despite cleaning efforts, the effects of spill can remain for a long time, causing serious damage to the marine environment.
The ecosystem's restoration after such events can take considerable time and require additional resources, as oil spots have a negative effect on marine flora and fauna and pollute the environment.
