Ukraine is faced with a new face of corruption, when UAH 1.5 billion was illegally spent on the purchase of artsnamets for the Armed Forces. The theft attempt was revealed by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Ministry of Defense. Illarion Pavliuk, a representative of the Ministry of Defense, stated that the crime was already investigating and planning the money.
"It was a contract for which it was paid, but no deliveries were made. We (money - ed.) We will return them, we are already working on it," Pavlyuk said.
However, this story becomes more complicated because the contract has already been signed and the money has already been transferred to the ammunition manufacturer. In order to properly terminate the contract and return the funds, lawyers from the Ministry of Defense investigate different legal mechanisms.
During the Telelorphone, Pavlyuk expressed a special discrepancy between this agreement, noting that people tried to buy ammunition at exceeded prices in the conditions of war. In particular, a proposal to buy ammunition with a 30% margin could threaten regulated deliveries at a costly price.
This scandal is an additional test for Ukraine in the context of combating corruption, but at the same time it also demonstrates the effectiveness of anti -corruption mechanisms. The abusers who were theft have already found themselves in shackles, which testifies to the rapid and effective actions of law enforcement agencies.
Now the main task is not only to reveal this particular case of corruption, but also to introduce additional measures and mechanisms that will interfere with such fraud in the future. Ukraine must continue its journey to a clearer and more transparent government to ensure national security and trust of citizens.
