Citizens of Ukraine have become more likely to resort to illegal ways of crossing the state border due to restrictions in the country. Due to the martial law introduced in Ukraine, conscripts cannot leave the country without special permission. According to Andriy Demchenko, the Speaker of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, there has been an increase in attempts by the illegal crossing of the border recently.
Restrictions also apply to civil servants who have prohibited departure from the country from the beginning of 2023. The number of attempts to violate these restrictions has already exceeded 2 thousand. Citizens actively use different schemes to evade mobilization and try to leave Ukraine without proper permission.
The speaker also reported that there was an increase in the case of illegal border crossing outside of checkpoints. Fake documents previously used for this purpose have become less accessible, and this could also help reduce the number of attempts.
According to Andriy Demchenko, it is necessary to continue work in this direction in order to ensure compliance with the laws and rules of crossing the border, especially in the conditions of martial law.
